Two Dads Defending Democracy: This Wednesday, Skidmore’s Arthur Zankel Music Center will host Joe Walsh, a former US Representative from Illinois, and Fred Guttenberg, a businessman-turned-activist whose daughter was murdered in the 2018 Parkland school shooting, for a conversation that proves that people on opposite ends of the political spectrum can find common ground on contentious issues such as gun safety. The event starts at 7pm and is free and open to the public.

Surrender Day Ceremony: This Thursday, Schuylerville’s Fort Hardy Park will commemorate the 247th anniversary of the surrender of British General Burgoyne, which marked the turning point of the American Revolution. Part of Saratoga 250, an initiative that’s celebrating the 250th anniversary of the Battle of Saratoga in the years leading up to 2027, the event will begin at 10am and feature a live cannon firing, military reenactments, historical stories and more.
French Bistro Wine Dinner: Oui, oui! Take your taste buds on a delicious journey to France without leaving the Spa City. On Thursday, Coat Room will host a five-course French bistro wine dinner, with seatings available from 4-9pm. The dinner is $150 per person before tax and tip.
Friday, October 18
Single in Saratoga: This Friday. head over to The Wild Horse to check out Saratoga’s hottest new restaurant while mingling with some of the hottest singles in the area. With a complementary drink, fun games (with prizes!) and even better people, Single in Saratoga is the perfect way to mix, mingle and maybe even fall in love.
Haunted Corn Maze: One thing we left out of our “It’s Fall, Y’all” roundup of things to do in the Spa City this autumn? Schuyler Farms’ haunted corn maze, going on every Friday and Saturday night in October. Navigate your way through the maze, but beware—ghouls and demons hide behind every bend. The haunting begins at dusk and continues until 10pm.

Greenfield Elementary School Dragonfire 5K: Run or walk the rolling hills of Greenfield this Saturday morning! The 5k will kick off at 9am on the grounds of Greenfield Elementary School.
Saratoga Recycles Day: Fall cleaning, anyone? This Saturday, Sustainable Saratoga is holding the 8th annual Saratoga Recycles Day in the SPAC parking lot on Route 50. The goal is to limit and reduce the amount of waste that gets sent to landfills, and repurpose items that can be useful to someone else. This year, Sustainable Saratoga will be collecting eyeglasses, woodwind and brass instruments, books, clothes, adult bikes, scrap metal, electronics, small appliances and more. There is a $5 per vehicle entrance fee.
Grounded: An Opera Saratoga Brunch & Learn Event: This Saturday, join Opera Saratoga for a delicious brunch at Franklin Square at 11am, followed by a screening of the exciting new opera Grounded at AMC Theaters. Tickets include a brunch buffet and talk with members of Adirondack Studios that built the Grounded set; tickets for the show are sold separately.
Saratoga Wing Off: Do you prefer wings or drums? Head downtown this Saturday from 11am-4pm for $2 wings from local restaurants as part of Saratoga’s 7th annual Wing Off. After you’ve tried ’em all, cast your vote for the best wings in town. A portion of the event’s proceeds will be donated to the American Cancer Society.
Trunk or Treat: Join the Saratoga Springs YMCA for its 6th annual Trunk or Treat from 1-3pm this Saturday. Get yourself—and your car—dressed up in your Halloween best and enjoy some sweet treats, games, crafts and family fun. Members of the community, local businesses, YMCA staff and local police will decorate their cars for a safe trick-or-treat experience for everyone. Families that are decorating their trunk will be asked to provide their own candy to share.
Witch Walk and Dance: Get ready for a spooky day filled with cackles, cauldrons and costumes. Bring out your best witch attire for the Witch Walk and Dance in downtown Saratoga. From 2-10pm, participate in the annual fundraising event to support animal organizations while dancing the night away with friends and family. With raffle baskets and discounted witchy cocktails at participating local bars, this event is sure to get you in the Halloween spirit.
Pints for Preservation Pub Crawl: This Saturday, the Saratoga Springs Preservation Foundation is hosting its 12th annual Pints for Preservation pub crawl, which kicks off at 3pm at Druthers. The afternoon features drink specials at each pub, an architectural scavenger hunt and raffles.
Home Made Theater’s Murder Mystery Dinner Theater: Love a good murder mystery? Home Made Theater is hosting its own theatrical version of one—Burying The Past: A New Life For Grinnen Barrett High—at The Mansion at Saratoga this Saturday at noon and 6pm. Tickets include a cocktail reception with charcuterie and a cash bar, plus a prix fixe meal.

Drag Me to Brunch: “Drag” your friends over to Universal Preservation Hall this Sunday for a fabulous drag brunch, featuring Mrs. Kasha Davis, Darienne Lake, Naysha Lopez and Brita Filter, all seen on RuPaul’s Drag Race. Get tickets now for the 10am or 1:30pm showing.
Corks & Cuisine: What better way to enjoy your Sunday afternoon than by sipping and snacking your way through Forno Bistro’s annual Corks & Cuisine event! Going on at the Broadway restaurant from 1-3pm, the afternoon will feature bites from Forno, Chianti and Boca Bistro, and will benefit the Richard Bambara Memorial Fund.
