Costume Confidential
Our annual roundup of the year's best Halloween costumes, from a pair of canine pickleballers to a family of insurance commercial characters.
Two years ago today, we published our very first Saratoga Living After Hours post. We didn’t know what we were doing or what this newsletter would become, but that first story—a roundup of 2021’s best local Halloween costumes—epitomized the “After Hours” mentality. SLAH is about closing your laptop (you, not me), getting together with friends, and having fun for the sake of having fun. Halloween is too.
So while other early SLAH concepts did not endure (The Saratoga Dog Park Chronicles turned out to just be Chronicle—singular—though I stand by the Daylight Saving Time–related arguments I made in that story), our post-Halloween review has become an annual feature. (If you’re new here, be sure to check out last year’s top costumes.)
Luckily, every year, come Halloween, Saratogians don’t disappoint. Read on to see some of our favorite costumes from this year, from an unlikely Cruella de Vil/hot dog collab to the cutest Beauty and the (canine) Beast you’ve ever seen.
