What Saratoga Moms Really Want for Mother's Day
Forget flowers, these local mothers want something even more meaningful.
This one’s for you, husbands of mothers with young children.
As we hurdle toward the second Sunday in May at warp speed, you’ve probably suppressed one little nagging thought: What in the name of God the Father are you going to get the saintly mother in your life? Whether it’s your mother, grandmother, wife, or daughter (who since making you a mother has become a mother herself), you want to pick a gift that she’ll appreciate almost as much as you appreciate her.
I personally fall under the “what to get my mother” category, and recently let the nagging little thought bubble up to the front of my mind. As a journalist, when you don’t know something, you’re supposed to go right to the source. And so a novel idea emerged: What if we actually asked mothers what they wanted? Imagine that.
And so I took to my phone contact list (and my contacts’ contact lists) and went directly to the mothers of Saratoga, asking what it is that they really want, not what they think they should want. Here are their answers…You may notice a trend.
