We Know the Best DMV in New York State
If you can relate to the DMV scene in 'Zootopia' (you know, the one where the employees are literal sloths), chances are, you’ve never been to this office.
Earlier this month, Saratoga Living’s Long Island–based Creative Director, Kathleen Gates, had to renew her driver’s license. She left for her Department of Motor Vehicles appointment at 11am, and texted me around 3:30pm: “I’m still at the DMV.”
Now, I know the reputation the DMV has for being the epitome of bureaucratic inefficiency—I’ve seen the scene in Zootopia where the DMV employees are literal sloths. And I know DMVs across the country have recently been extra busy, given the May 7 REAL ID deadline. But four hours at the DMV, after you’ve made an appointment, no less? That seemed unfathomable to me, probably because I’ve only ever been to one DMV, and it just so happens to be a quick, painless, downright delightful experience every time I go. And I’m not the only one who thinks so.
