The 12 Days of (Saratoga) Christmas
Forget turtle doves, these are the things Saratogians really want.
You know you’ve been watching too much TV when you get not one, but two carbo-licious chain restaurant jingles stuck in your head—simultaneously, might I add. If you’ve been keeping up with the NFL (go Bills!) or reruns of Friends, you’re probably in the same boat. The two I’m talking about are Pizza Hut’s 12 Days of Pizza and Olive Garden’s 12 Days of, well, Olive Garden.
While I bet the franchises’ marketing teams weren’t too happy to discover that they weren’t the only ones with the idea to co-opt a Christmas classic, Saratoga Living After Hours happens to NOT be in the Americanized Italian food industry, and so I have no shame in stealing their definitely-not-very-creative ad strategy—and doing it better. (How do you go from “six geese a-laying” to “shrimp on shrimp on shrimp,” Olive Garden?) So, without further ado, I present to you the 12 things the city of Saratoga will give to you this Christmas—and pretty much every other day of the year, too.
P.S. If you don’t read it in a singing voice you’re doing it wrong.
On the twelfth day of Christmas, Saratoga gave to me…
Twelve strummers strumming
Eleven gripers griping
Ten teas a-steeping
Nine horses prancing
Eight pints a-melting
Seven (million) ducks a-swimming
Six springs a-spraying
Fiiiiiiive drinks at Kings
4 little words
3 tipsy men
2 views I love
And a parking spot right on the street.
