Sneak Peek: PDT Market
SLAH gets a tour of the much anticipated bar/cafe/market coming to Saratoga's West Side in the coming weeks.
When I lived on Saratoga’s West Side, the Price Chopper Limited on Railroad Place was a life-saver. Even though I’d moved out of the downtown core by the time it closed, a part of me was sad—the store was where I took fellow SLAH contributor Abby Tegnelia on her inaugural East Coast grocery shopping voyage, and where my sister and I (inexplicably) picked up Cheez-Its and lettuce following a Bud Light–soaked Chowderfest circa 2013. But when I found out that what was taking over the space was a specialty marketplace offering in-store dining, make-your-own charcuterie boards, fresh-cut flowers, cooking classes and a bar? My brand loyalty to Price Chopper flew right out the window.
When Ballston Lake–based PDT Catering first announced that it’d be opening PDT Market in the 19,000-square-foot storefront last summer, I quickly wrote up a story about the impending food mecca for Saratoga Living magazine. Part of me didn’t quite believe what Chef Adam Foti told me at the time: a grocery store…with a bar in it? It sounded too good to be true. And so, when he followed up about a month before the store’s expected opening date of early March, I jumped at the opportunity to see the spectacle in its final stages of construction for myself.
