Saratoga Playlist: Rainy Day Edition
Saratoga bar-goers share their favorite songs for this week's weather.
We really have no right to complain about the rain. After that nine-day stretch of unseasonably warm, 70-plus-degree weather a few weeks ago, it’s only fair that we get an equally long stretch of classic upstate New York springtime weather. You know, so we appreciate it when the sun actually does return someday.
This past Saturday, I did one of the only things one can do when the weather is this crappy: Participate in a downtown Saratoga bar crawl. At said bar crawl, which was a benefit for nonprofit organization Strength in Numbers, I polled the crowd—what is their go-to rainy day song? While I’ve personally been listening to kings of rainy day music The National, who released their new album just in time for upstate monsoon season, I was eager to hear what other Saratogians jam out to when they’re cooped up at home. Would the resulting playlist be mainly slow and sad music to match the weather, or upbeat tunes to beat the springtime blues? Turns out, the answer is yes, with a splash of Dave, MJ and a couple of songs I left in against my better judgment. For the eclectic list of songs and a link to the Saratoga’s Rainy Day Playlist on Spotify, read on.
