On Deck: Whiskey Wednesday and More!
đ„ Foodies rejoice: This week brings Restaurant Week and an elegant whiskey tasting (with us!)...for starters.
Tuesday, November 7
Yesterday marked the start of Discover Saratogaâs Restaurant Week. But with many restaurants closed on Mondays, tonight may be the night to take advantage of the $25 or $35 three-course dinners being offered all over Saratoga County. Restaurant Week runs through Sunday; see a complete list of participating restaurants and their prix fixe menus here.

Donât miss Whiskey Wednesdayâwith us! Now is your last chance to grab a ticket to join us for our 3rd annual Whiskey Night in Saratoga. This elegant, intimate tasting is being led by the great Holly and Charles of First Fill Spirits; this year theyâre taking us on a bourbon and rye journey that will answer all of your burning questions and cross a few things off your gift list, too. Think high-level, single-barrel tastes you wonât find anywhere else. Plus: Youâll be supporting local journalism (us!) and a small local business (them!) at the same time. Upgrade to VIP and walk out with a bottle of Kings County Blended Bourbon and a nosing glass for home. (Itâll make a great hostess gift for the holiday seasonâif you donât crack it open before then!)
Friday, November 10
Musician Tarriona âTankâ Ball (of the award-winning group Tank and the Bangas) is heading to the Frances Young Tang Teaching Museum on Friday for an edgy poetry reading like no other. Sheâll read from her book of poetry Vulnerable AF, with a discussion moderated by Tang staff to follow. This mind-opening event is free and open to the public.
Saturday, November 11
If you scoff at Autocomplete and think you have what it takes to beat the best of the best, head to Kings Tavern at 1pm Saturday for the Sip and Spell adult spelling bee that will put that cockiness to the test. (You can reserve a table for a donation by calling Jenna at 518-281-7609, show up and register as a speller on the day of the event, or just go to witness the spectacle and enter the raffle.) While we know you donât need an extra reason to throw your hat in the ring, the competition is also a fundraiser for the C.A.R.E. Committee, (Corinth Aims to Reach Everyone), which provides food and other necessities to Corinth students and their families through various programs. To see how SLAHâs resident wordsmith fared last year, read her recap here.
If youâre looking for love between Saratoga Living singles nights (the next one is tentatively scheduled for December 20!)âand youâre feeling sportyâcheck out the Micropolitan Matchmakersâ Love and Pickleball event going on from 3-5pm at the Southern Saratoga YMCA in Clifton Park. Pickleballers of all skills are welcome.
SPAC shows are no longer just for summertime. This Saturday, SPAC will welcome vocal quartet sĂ€je, whose debut album hit #2 on the Billboard jazz charts, to the Spa Little Theater. sĂ€jeâs sound traverses a vast array of original material, beloved jazz standards and contemporary covers; tickets to the 7pm show are $33.
