On Deck: Thanksgiving Week
Thanksgiving Eve festivities and a weekend shopping bonanza round out the beginning of the holiday season in Saratoga.
Wednesday, November 22
This year, kick off the season of holiday magic with, well, magic. Saratogian Michael Mills of The Misfit and Mills Entertainment will be bringing his own magic show to the historic stage at Caffe Lena this Wednesday from 6-9pm. Fool Me Once: A Magic Show is a playful tour of contemporary trickery, involving everything rom sleight of hand to psychological manipulation. Can’t make the Thanksgiving Eve show? Mills will be back at Caffe Lena for a second performance on December 13.
Want to avoid the downtown crowds this Wednesday? Speckled Pig Brewing in Ballston Spa is hosting a Thanksgiving Eve party complete with pizza specials and a signature Prosecco cocktail; the first 100 customers will also receive a free winter beanie.
Thursday, November 23
There’s still time to register for the Christopher Dailey Foundation’s 22nd annual 5K Turkey Trot, which kicks off in front of Saratoga City Hall at 8:30am on Thursday morning. Get a pre-Thanksgiving meal workout in, then head to Bailey’s afterward for a tall glass of whatever you want.
Friday, November 24
Black Friday is back, and Saratoga’s stores are stepping up to the occasion. Skip the trips to Walmart and Best Buy and instead shop local at these participating shops: Beef Jerky Experience, Botanicals Spa, Caroline & Main, Celtic Treasures, Crafters Gallery, The Dark Horse Mercantile, Encounter Boutique, Frivolous Boutique, Impressions of Saratoga, iRun LOCAL, Lifestyles of Saratoga, PaperDolls of Saratoga, The Pink Paddock, Saratoga Olive Oil Company, Saratoga Outdoors (formerly Mountainman Outdoor Supply Company), Spoken Boutique, The Saratoga Day Spa, Union Hall Supply Company and Yellow Boutique.
Saturday, November 25
Keep the shopping spree rolling on small business Saturday! The 48th Annual Holiday Craft Marketplace—a benefit for Saratoga Center for the Family—will return to the Saratoga Springs City Center from 10am-4:30pm. More than 130 crafters and artisans will be in attendance, selling everything from candles and cakes to books and baskets, and a special appearance by Santa Claus will make the day fun for the whole family. Admission is $5 in advance and $10 on the day of the market.
Sunday, November 26
And don’t forget about your pup this holiday weekend! This Sunday, Sacred Spa + Wellness is hosting a pet portraits with Santa event. Stop by the Schuyerville spa between 11am-1pm to see your furry friend snuggle up with St. Nick himself. Digital downloads of the photo will be available for $25, and treats (for both man and his best friend!) will be provided. For more info on this weekend’s Sacred Spa events, click here.
