Back-to-back 'Saratoga Living' events, plus a bar crawl for a good cause, Night at the Brewseum and more.
Tuesday, April 9
Today’s the day, business owners! Join Saratoga Living and Walrath Recruiting for Fostering Retention & Engagement: Cultivating a Culture of Success, a panel discussion and networking event happening at Putnam Place TODAY from 5:30-8pm. Walrath Recruiting’s Renee Walrath will be joined by fellow business leaders to chat about one thing she gets asked about time and time again in her work: How do you retain employees in this current job climate? Every attendee will get a free drink and snacks with their ticket (cash bar also available), and there’ll be plenty of time to network before and after the presentation! There’s still time to reserve your spot.
Wednesday, April 10
While we’re getting down to business today, we’re getting ready to party tomorrow! At long last, Overdress to Impress: Grand Entrance Edition is here, and Saratoga’s leading ladies (and gents!) are primping and preening in preparation. Do you have your outfit picked out? You’re sure to be a star on our red carpet, where paparazzi will be snapping pics and hosting interviews. Inside, get your photo taken going up Panza’s staircase, and enter the party for live music; drinks by Bocage Champagne Bar, Curamia Tequila and GOLD-N-GO; an Italian food spread; raffles; and the much anticipated fashion show, hosted by Bocage’s Zac Denham. Four winners will be chosen in the categories of Most Elegant, Sparkle & Shine, Most Overdressed and Best Overall, who will go home with prizes. Get your last-minute tickets now. See you tomorrow at 6pm!
Thursday, April 11
Unfortunately, tickets are already sold out for the band Tophouse’s performance at Caffé Lena (that’s where I’ll be). But music-lovers can flex both their brains and vocal chords this Thursday at Spa City Tap & Barrel, which will host Name That Tune Music Trivia based on early 2000s faves (Rihanna, Lady Gaga, plus an emo round with My Chemical Romance/Taking Back Sunday/Dashboard) beginning at 7pm. Then, at 9pm, perform one of your favorite 2000s hits in the bar’s weekly karaoke competition.
While Thursday’s Pintxos: A Taste of Spain’s Basque Region (where Abby will be) is also sold out, you can get tickets now for the next CulinaryArts@SPAC event. Flavors From the Farm With Emma Hearst is coming to ThePines@SPAC on May 8, and will feature fresh tastes, cocktails, mocktails and a conversation between Chef Emma and WAMC’s Joe Donahue.
Friday, April 12
Night at the Brewseum, one of my favorite events of the Saratoga social calendar, returns to the Canfield Casino this Friday. The annual beer festival, a fundraiser for the Saratoga Springs Lions Club, kicks off with a VIP session at 5pm, and general admission at 6:30pm. Sample beer, wine and spirits from more than 40 local breweries, wineries and distilleries, plus food from Henry Street Taproom, Mama Mia’s, PJ’s Bar-B-QSA, Druthers and more. Read about last year’s event here.
Friday also kicks off Saratoga Arms’ Whiskey Experience Weekend, which includes a intro to whiskey class at First Fill Spirits, a distillery tour and tasting at Springbrook Hollow Farm Distillery, a whiskey pairing dinner and more.
Saturday, April 13
Remember Rayn Boncie from our 2023 Capital Region Gives Back feature? Her organization, Things of my Very Own, is hosting its 5th annual pub crawl this Saturday. Kicking off at Parting Glass at 1pm, the crawl will travel to Bailey’s, Saratoga City Tavern and Spa City Tap & Barrel, all while raising money for an organization that helps children in crisis in our community. You already missed the deadline to get a T-shirt, but your ticket will get you access to raffles, drink specials, karaoke and more.
Sunday, April 14
Fred Astaire Dance Studios’s Saratoga studio is turning 7, and, naturally, a party is in order! Beginning at 2pm, the public is welcome to attend the Route 9 studio for an afternoon of dancing, student performances, refreshments, and a show by Fred Astaire’s professional dancers.
