This time around, we’re focusing on singles age 21-35 from 6-7pm and 35-50 from 7:30-8:30pm, but we plan on doing another round for older folks soon, so keep an eye on our social media. In recent months, Saratoga Arms has been teaming up with local bars and restaurants to present special dinner events. This Thursday, they’ll team up with Bocage Champagne Bar to host a wine dinner beginning at 6pm at the hotel. The four courses—including butter thyme grilled diver scallops, seared salmon, pork belly and apple ginger carrot cake—will each be paired with an excellent selection by Bocage’s expert staff. Tickets are $165.
Still need to do some Mother’s Day shopping? Sunnyside Gardens is hosting a garden party ahead of Saratoga’s annual Secret Gardens Tour this Thursday from 5-7pm. Socialize, shop and enjoy free wine and small bites, plus raffles and music by Phil Drum. A portion of the proceeds will go to Soroptimist International of Saratoga County, host of the Secret Gardens Tour that’s returning to town on Sunday, July 14.
Friday, May 10
We don’t typically cover Albany events in this newsletter, but when Dwight Schrute is coming to town, how could we not? The star of The Office will be at the Palace this Friday at 7:30pm for a screening of one of the show’s most iconic episodes and a conversation including behind-the-scenes stories about bringing Dunder Mifflin’s assistant to the regional manager to life. Tickets start at $31.95.
Saturday, May 11
Saratoga Springs Preservation’s Historic Homes Tour returns to the Spa City this Saturday, offering a glimpse into eight of Saratoga’s oldest houses in the North Broadway neighborhood. Tickets (which can be picked up the day of the event at the Surrey-Williamson Inn from 10am-3pm) are $40 for SSPF members and $50 for nonmembers.
One of the Saratoga Automobile Museum’s largest events of the year is coming to the Saratoga Spa State Park this Saturday from 9am-2pm. All cars are welcome at the Spring Auto Show (registration is $20 in advance and $25 the day of the show), and spectators get in for free (parking is $10 per vehicle).
It’s National Pet Week, and Broadway’s most ardent dog-lovers will be ready. Kicking off at 10am (registration starts at 9:30am) at Congress Park is H.O.P.E.’s annual Walk for the Animals to raise funds and for homeless animals. Animal-lovers and their fully vaccinated, dog-friendly dogs are welcome. Afterwards, head over to Impressions of Saratoga for their 10th annual Dog Day Celebration, which will include a dog supplies drive, adoptable bunnies from Hop on Home, a “Battle of the Biscuits” contest, 20 percent off pet products and more.
Sunday, May 12
Grab your mom and your running shoes and get to Orenda Pavilion in the Saratoga Spa State Park this Sunday for Kelly’s Angels’ 12th annual Mother-Lovin’ 5K Run/Walk. Registration runs from 7:30-8:30am, with the free kids fun run kicking off at 8:45am. After a welcome address by Kelly’s Angels founder Mark Mulholland, the race will kick off at 9:15am. Proceeds will help support children and their families during difficult times.
While Prime’s popular annual Mother’s Day Brunch Buffet is already sold out, you have a few options if Mom is more interested in pancakes than running on her special day. Make a brunch reservation at Forno Bistro (moms will get a complimentary mimosa or mocktail), The Brook Tavern, or Dunning Street Station, or head to Prime later in the day for the dinner buffet, going on from 4-7pm.
