Thursday, June 29
Local singer-writer Angelina Valente brings her mellow yet powerful music to Caffe Lena Thursday night. Her stripped-down lyrical style blends seamlessly with her various folk, bluegrass and indie-pop sounds. Valente will take the stage from 7-9pm on Thursday. Doors open at 6:30pm and tickets are $17.13.
Friday, June 30
Opera Saratoga’s 2023 Summer Festival celebrates opening night with “A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder” Friday at the Universal Preservation Hall. This fresh take on a one-man show will feature former Opera Saratoga Young Artist Eric McConnell with conductor Laura Bergquist and director David Gram. Tickets are almost gone—buy them online while they last. The show starts at 7:30pm Friday, but if arrive early, you can make a Champagne toast with Bocage Champagne Bar. And if you can’t make the opening night performance, grab tickets to one of the other showings on July 2, July 6 or July 8.
Saturday, July 1
Saratoga Living’s 25th anniversary party may have come and gone, but Saratoga Candy Co.’s is just around the corner! Celebrate the beloved shop’s big birthday with Candy Co merch giveaways and, of course, candy! “Spokespig” Noel will be on site from noon-3pm, but the party runs from 10am-8pm.
Sunday, July 2
Kick off the Fourth of July early at the Town of Stillwater’s annual fireworks display at Brown’s Beach on Sunday evening. The sparks will fly around 9:15-9:30pm. $5 parking will be available at Brown’s Beach, though spaces are limited.
Tuesday, July 4
Tuesday isn’t just the Fourth of July in the Spa City—it’s also Saratoga’s annual All-American Celebration! The fun begins at 9am, when the Firecracker 4 race takes off. Saratoga shops and restaurants will be open for biz during the day, and Big Sky Country Band will perform from 6-9pm on Ellsworth Jones Place. Then, the fireworks return for the first time in four years; catch them at 9pm from atop the Saratoga Springs City Center parking garage.
Wednesday, July 5
Round here, we love a Live Nation concert. Don’t miss Counting Crows with opener Dashboard Confessional next Wednesday at SPAC. We can hear the crowd now: “Mr. Jones and me….”
Friday, July 7
Saratoga Living’s popular Single in Saratoga event returns, and this time, we’re going to the opera! Join us at Universal Preservation Hall at 6pm for a mixer featuring prosecco and wine by Freixenet, charcuterie by Saratoga Grazing Co. and opera-themed ice breakers before heading into the theater to watch Don Pasquale, a rom-com of an opera featuring a fair dose of cat fishing. Tickets are just $39 and include the cost of the show (a $52 value!).
Saturday, July 8
This year marks the 30th anniversary of The X-Files, a beloved sci-fi series that aired for nine years beginning in 1993. And what better place to celebrate that anniversary than Saratoga Springs, home of The X-Files Preservation Collection, the largest known collection of props, wardrobe, set, dressing and other memorabilia from the show? The weekend kicks off with a series of celebrity experiences at the museum on Friday, June 7, and is followed by the main event on Sunday at the Saratoga Springs City Center. Sunday, July 9
Congress Park’s free summer concert series gets going next Sunday with an al fresco performance by Fenimore Blues. Concerts start at 7pm and are approximately 90 minutes.
