On Deck: Capital Region Gives Back Is Here
Get your tickets now for our 5th annual region-wide fundraising event!
Tuesday, December 5
Let someone else do the cooking tonight. For all you meat-eaters out there, support the Saratoga Automobile Museum by picking up dinner at their Brooks House of BBQ dinner fundraiser going on from 4-6pm. Dinners are $15, with optional sauces available for $5. You can even donate a dinner to a community member in need. Pre-order here.
Chicken not really your style? On Tuesdays, 9 Miles East offers a three-course, $35 “Don’t Call It Vegan” special—in other words, a vegan special, but it’s so delicious you won’t even realize it’s vegan. (Personally, I think vegan food is delicious.) This week’s special is buffalo cauliflower with a vegan ranch dipping sauce; roasted butternut squash and leeks served with mixed greens, dried cranberries and pecans with a maple tahini vinaigrette; and zucchini noodles with roasted cherry tomatoes and mushrooms in pesto sauce with vegan cashew parmesan. Call 518-223-9872 to make a reservation, or order your dinner to go online.
Wednesday, December 6
Saratoga Living’s biggest fundraising event of the year is back! This year’s Capital Region Gives Back soirée will—as always—celebrate the 10 local do-gooders featured in our end-of-year issue, but there’s even more holiday cheer in store! NewsChannel 13’s Mark Mulholland will be emceeing the evening, which will feature welcome cocktails by Saratoga Eagle, a buffet dinner by West Ave Pizza and Chicken, dessert by Bella Napoli, music by DJ Eric, and Putnam Place’s cash bar. The best part? Fifty percent of your ticket price will go directly to the Capital Region nonprofit of your choosing. Thank you to presenting sponsor Rotor-Matic Plumbing & Drain Solutions for making this event possible! We’ll see you at 6pm on Wednesday at Putnam Place.
Thursday, December 7
If you loved our Whiskey Night in Saratoga tasting event with First Fill Spirits, listen up: The Adelphi Hotel is hosting a Balvenie Whisky Pairing Dinner—complete with a four-course custom pairing menu and top-shelf selections—this Thursday at 6pm. You can even add an optional James & Sons cigar and whiskey pairing in The Adelphi Winter Gardens for an additional fee.
Friday, December 8
Support the next generation of makers—and get some holiday shopping done!—at this Friday’s Tang Bazaar, a pop-up marketplace featuring jewelry, clothing, pottery and more made by Skidmore students. The bazaar will be held in the Frances Young Tang Teaching Museum and Art Gallery from 3:30-5:30pm, and customers should expect to pay students directly via Venmo.
Saturday, December 9
Saturday is for the kids! Join Santa Claus at the Wilton Mall with B95.5 morning show host Chad O’Hara from 8-10am. Enjoy breakfast provided by Market 32, and have the chance to meet the big guy face to face! Admission is free, but registration is required; call 518-583-2138 to sign up.
Next, head over to the Saratoga Springs Public Library to celebrate National Llama Day (yep, it’s a thing) with a craft. Teen volunteers will help your little ones construct a llama wind chime to take home from 10am-noon. No registration is required!
But wait, there’s more! From 2-3:30pm, the Tang will host Family Saturday: Marvelous Moth Wings. Participants will first view work in the exhibition Paula Wilson: Toward the Sky’s Back Door before making their own set of moth wings using fabric and paint. This free event is suitable for children age 5 and older accompanied by an adult. No registration is required.
Sunday, December 10
This Sunday, venture out of Saratoga to support one of the beneficiaries of last year’s Capital Region Gives Back fundraiser. Pups & Pints, a fundraiser for Argyle’s Lucky Puppy Dog Rescue, returns to Frog Alley Brewing in Schenectady from noon-5pm. The afternoon will feature games, raffles and, yes, adoptable puppies. Several ticketing packages are available.
