Today marks the anniversary of one of the most important events in American history. Celebrate 246 years since British Lieutenant General John Burgoyne surrendered to Major General Horatio Gates thereby ending the Battles of Saratoga in the place where the turning point of the American Revolution happened—Saratoga National Historical Park. Park rangers will be on site to chat with visitors interested in learning more from 10am-4pm. Who knows—maybe you’ll even have an encounter with a spirit who lost his life in the fighting.

Join SPAC for the second installment in their 2023-24 Spa Little Theater season this Thursday for a performance by Grammy-nominated mandolinist Avi Avital and star accordionist Hanzhi Wang. The unique program will be a mix of repertoire from around the world that showcases two unusual instruments performed by two of the best artists to play them. Tickets start at $35.

Haunted Saratoga Ghost Tours are held May through November, but there’s certainly no time to book one like the days leading up to Halloween. The 90-minute walking tour brings those who dare in search of the numerous ghosts rumored to haunt the city including Old Smoke, Hattie and the Witch of Saratoga. Get tickets now for this Friday, Saturday or one of the next few weekends.
Saturday, October 21
Fall is in the air! And what better way to celebrate than at Fall Festival, the Downtown Business Association’s annual family-friendly afternoon event celebrating the season. From noon-3pm, head downtown for pumpkin rolling, a petting zoo, face painters, the Great Saratoga Pumpkin Hunt and much more. Then, from 2-10pm, dozens of witches will take to the streets for the annual Witch Walk & Dance, a fundraiser for multiple animal nonprofits.
If you can’t wait for Halloween to dress up, Saturday also marks the 5th annual Saratoga YMCA Trunk or Treat. Trick out your trunk, stock up on candy, dress up the kiddos, and head to the Y for an afternoon of good, old fashioned Halloween fun. Those without little ones in tow, listen up. Make the short drive up the Northway this Saturday afternoon for Northway Brewing’s Oktoberfest, going on from 3-7pm. The 3rd annual event sees 40 local breweries, cideries, distilleries, wineries and food vendors set up shop throughout the Queensbury brewery’s taproom and warehouse. Grab your signature, complimentary glass and taste your way through the brewery as you listen to music by Caity & the Gallaghers. Tickets are $50.
