There’s nothing like cracking open a good book over a cup of coffee—and now you can do just that at Saratoga Springs Public Library. Celebrate the grand opening of the Friends Coffee Shop, located on the first floor of the library near the Friends Book Shop, this Wednesday beginning at 11:30am. Following a ribbon-cutting ceremony, there will be giveaways, a raffle and $1 coffee, tea and hot chocolate, plus baked goods from Saratoga Bread Basket.
Also on Wednesday, members of the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame are invited to the opening reception of the museum’s newest exhibits, A Tremendous Machine: Celebrating the 50th Anniversary of Secretariat’s Triple Crown and The Summer Place to Be: Bert Morgan’s Focus on Saratoga Race Course, from 5:30-7:30pm. Join the Saratoga Shakespeare Company for the opening-night performance of Twelfth Night. The comedic story of love, loss, mistaken identities and reunion will provide an evening of al fresco laughs. This will be critically acclaimed director Helena Binder’s first production with the Saratoga Shakespeare Company. Shows will take place July 13-16 and July 19-22 on the Alfred Z. Solomon Stage in Congress Park. All performances will begin at 6pm and are free to attend.

Dave Matthews Band will make its return to SPAC Friday and Saturday as part of the band’s US tour following the release of the band’s 10th studio album, Walk Around The Moon. Dave has sold out the venue 11 times in the past; make sure you grab tickets before they’re gone to hear hits like “Crash Into Me,” “Ants Marching” and “The Space Between.” Lawn tickets start at $65.20 and both shows are scheduled to start at 7:30pm.

Still choosing horses to bet on based on their names? Join the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame for The Saturday Morning Social with Richard Eng, author of Betting on Horse Racing for Dummies, just in time for the Saratoga racing season. The free handicapping seminar will have complimentary coffee and doughnuts and run from 9-11am.

Keep the good times rolling this weekend when American country singer Jason Aldean takes the SPAC stage with special guests Mitchell Tenpenny, Corey Kent and Dee Jay Silver. Don’t miss out on the chance to see hits like “You Make It Easy” and “Dirt Road Anthem” performed live. The show will start at 7:30pm and lawn tickets start at $65.45.

Join award-winning TV personality and fashion icon Carson Kressley for a pre-track fashion show and brunch party you won’t want to miss! On Saturday, July 29, from 11am to 1pm, the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame will host Racing and Rosé. La Crema will provide the rosé, and the fashion show—starring many familiar faces in the racing world—will feature racing-inspired designs by Miss Scarlett’s Jennifer Marcellus. Attendees can also expect mimosa-inspired beverages from Woodchuck Cider, light snacks courtesy of PDT Market and the opportunity to stroll through the Museum’s Sculpture Gallery.
Doors open half an hour earlier for VIP ticket-holders, for an exclusive meet-and-greet with Carson. In addition to a photo with the TV star, these tickets also include reserved seating for the fashion show.
