It’s Britney, b****. If you’re nostalgic for the Britney Spears era and looking for something to do soon (like, in four hours), join a cohort of like-minded ladies and gents for an afternoon soiree celebrating the release of The Woman in Me, the early 2000s pop star’s brand-new memoir. Meet up with the crew at Palette at noon, and parade to Northshire to pick up copies of the new book. Then, continue on to Bocage Champagne Bar for celebration, pop music, dramatic readings from the memoir, and champagne and cocktails. This event is free but, yes, you do have to buy your own copy of the book.
Thursday, October 26
Help celebrate The Wine Bar’s anniversary—the swanky spot has been around for 24 years!—this Thursday. From 8-10pm musicians Nick Horace and Liam Davis will be providing entertainment in the upstairs dining area to go along with your charcuterie board and glass of red.
Friday, October 27
Britney and booze aren’t the only things Palette has planned for this week. Join the women of Palette for the 14th Lunch Ladies Autumn Luncheon, going on at The Adelphi from 11:30am-1:30pm. The theme? Western Glam—so pull out your fringiest jacket, bedazzled cowboy boots and maybe a fabulous bandana à la Cowboy Barbie. Tickets are $125 and include the prix fixe lunch, one specialty cocktail, tax and tip.
For a major change of pace, head to Universal Preservation Hall at 7:30pm for a screening of The Rocky Horror Picture Show. The evening will feature a costume contest, raffles and a cash bar, and all the props you need for the show will be provided. Whether you’re a “Rocky virgin” or a longtime member of the legion, you’re invited to come along on the strange journey that’s in store. Tickets are $32.50.
When Halloween’s on a Tuesday, you celebrate on Friday! Show off your costume this Saturday at Putnam Place, which is hosting its very own Boos & Booze Halloween party. The evening will feature live music by Return From Exile and The Bedrock Foundation, karaoke and costume contests (with prizes) in a variety of categories. Tickets are $10 and the party starts at 7pm.
Saturday, October 28
