How to weigh in on paid parking in Saratoga, two worthy weekend fundraisers, and eclipse prep in the Spa City.
Tuesday, April 2
If you missed out on tickets for Franklin Square Market’s sold-out Cookbook Club event and seats for David Sedaris’ sold-out show at The Egg (that’s where I’ll be), there’s one more way to spend your Tuesday night that’s sure to be just as thrilling. At 6pm, the Saratoga City Council will host a public hearing about Commissioner Jason Golub’s divisive paid parking proposal at which members of the community can voice their opinions. Sure to be in attendance are Saratoga Outdoors owner John Nemjo, who launched a petition to stop the plan before it’s too late; the creators of the Talking Saratoga podcast; and SLAH’s own Abby Tegnelia.
Wednesday, April 3
The Bunker isn’t the only new golf simulator in town. This Wednesday, the Saratoga Senior Center will celebrate the unveiling of a new golf simulator with PGA Tour champion, CBS Commentator and bestselling author Dottie Pepper. Kicking off at 2pm, the afternoon will feature light refreshments and golf tips, plus a presentation on “The Perfect Swing.”
Thursday, April 4
Get a taste of Saratoga Arms Hotel (literally) without having to book a stay! This Thursday, the storied hotel is hosting a beer dinner with Whitman Brewing, complete with four courses and craft beer pairings to go with them. The dinner starts at 6pm and is $75.

This Friday, head to Saratoga Springs Public Library to pick up free eclipse-viewing glasses (they’re being distributed while supplies last Thursday-Sunday) and stay for one of three special programs. The Super Mario Bros. Movie will be shown at 10am, and a simple craft and coloring pages will be available. At 2pm, Minecraft Sandbox is for kiddos in grades 1-3 to try out Minecraft and play freely in Creative Mode. And at 3:30pm, adults can tap into their own creativity to make a reusable dish towel with an “It’s Just a Phase” moon print. Register on the library’s website.

AIM Services is back with its highly anticipated 3rd annual Carnival fundraiser, kicking off at Vapor on Saturday at 6pm. On Saturday comes another third-annual fundraising event—this one for Saratoga Shredders! The Shredders Bike Swap is going on Sunday from 11am-1pm at Columbia Pavilion in the Spa State Park, and will offer both mountain biking enthusiasts and newcomers to the sport the opportunity to find great deals on cycling-related items including bikes, clothing, gear and tools. It also gives spring cleaners a chance to clear their garage or closet of unused gear! Preregister your items for sale or donation beforehand—Saratoga Shredders will collect 20 percent of proceeds from sales and 100 percent from donated items, with all the money going towards the Bikes in Schools Program.
Ever heard of self-care Sunday? Well, Bocage Champagne Bar and Complexions Spa for Beauty and Wellness are making it a thing this Sunday with their Bubbles & Glow Brunch, going on from 10am-1pm at the Phila Street bar. Grab the girls for a morning of DIY facials, conversation about skincare and aging gracefully, light bites and sparkling wine. Every guest will go home with a Dubois Beauty skincare headband, a microfiber makeup remover towel and special discounts. Tickets are $60.
But wait—you have another brunch option! This Sunday, Cantina will host a Disco Brunch, complete with disco music and specials including biscuits & gravy, pancake tacos, fajita Benedict and French toast. And don’t forget a Tequila Sunrise, White Russian or Bloody Mary! Reservations are recommended.
