Fall in love with a new book this Valentine’s season! From February 7-14, the Saratoga Springs Public Library is offering readers a “blind date with a book.” A display on the main floor will be filled with books wrapped in paper to conceal their identity. How to choose which one you’ll take home with you? “Personality traits” of the books will be listed on their wrappings!
Thursday, February 8
If you’re a man over 40 looking for an actual blind date—or 10!—you can’t miss this Thursday’s Single in Saratoga: Speed Dating Edition. (Sorry ladies and men under 40—your tickets are sold out.) In addition to the chance to meet 10 eligible bachelorettes in your age range, you’ll also get samples of GOLD-N-GO cocktails throughout the evening.
Friday, February 9
This Friday, Caffè Lena is teaming up with MLK Saratoga to present activist and singer/songwriter Crys Matthews’ Black History Month Tour. Described as a “drum major for justice,” the show tackles heavy topics such as immigration, the opioid crisis and Black Lives Matter with powerful lyrics and inspirational music.
Saratoga may be 1,500 miles from New Orleans, but that doesn’t mean we can’t cash in on Mardi Gras vibes! This Friday kicks off a full weekend of Mardi Gras–inspired events at Nanola in Malta, beginning with a live show by Hammer Head Horns and culminating with Fat Tuesday trivia on Tuesday. A New Orleans–influenced menu will be available all weekend.
Saturday, February 10
On Saturday from 11am-4pm, tens of thousands of soup-lovers will take to the streets of downtown Saratoga for the 25th annual Chowderfest.
If battling the masses for a few bites of clam chowder isn’t your thing, head to Bocage Champagne Bar, which will be hosting three Galentine’s Brunch seatings—one at noon, one at 2pm and one at 4pm—featuring delectable dishes and, of course, Champagne. *LAST CALL for tickets is Thursday, February 8.
Outside of town, the Saratoga Corinth & Hudson Railway is hosting a 1.5-hour Wine and Chocolate Express train ride through the frozen marshes of the southern Adirondacks, complete with complimentary chocolate from Saratoga Chocolate Company and wine from Fossil Stone Vineyards available for purchase. Can’t attend this Saturday? They’ll be offering the experience again on Valentine’s Day.
Sunday February 11
Make it a Galentine’s Day double-header by nabbing a reservation at The Hideaway, which on Sunday will host a Galentine’s Brunch from 11am-2pm. In addition to the prix fixe food menu, your first mimosa of the morning is free with the purchase of your meal; after that, mimosas are buy one get one free.
If you don’t already have plans to watch the Super Bowl at one of Saratoga’s top football bars, head to James & Sons Tobacconists at 6pm to see the big game. Tickets are $20 for lounge members and $25 for nonmembers and include food, beverages and cigar deals.
