Humans of Night at the Brewseum
An Irishman, a Gmail user, and Ryan Gosling walk into the Saratoga Lions Club's brew fest...
There’s not much regular Saratogians can do to help improve the lives of those afflicted by deafness, vision loss, or diabetes…except drink craft beer. Let me explain.
In addition to supporting youth and community initiatives, the Saratoga Springs Lions Club, the local chapter of the world’s largest service club organization, raises money for sight, hearing, and diabetes services by way of annual fundraising events. The biggest (and, in my opinion, best) such event? Night at the Brewseum.
Every April, dozens of craft beverage makers and hundreds of craft beverage drinkers descend on the Canfield Casino for what has essentially become a big ol’ reunion: You expect to see the same brewery owners—Kurt from Artisanal Brew Works, Larry from Speckled Pig, Max from Northway Brewing—in their usual spots around the casino (though this year there was a new tasting map to help attendees find the specific beers they were looking for), and you expect to see the same smiling faces thrilled to be back at what many describe as their favorite Saratoga event of the year.
