From Chowderfest to the Make-A-Wish Gala...and Back Again
March 26 truly was the epitome of a Spa City Saturday.
When I told a coworker about my Saturday master plan—to somehow make it from a 12:30pm meeting in Schroon Lake to Downtown Saratoga for Chowderfest, then to the elegant Make-A-Wish Northeast New York Gala at the Hall of Springs at 6pm and back to Chowderfest—she said, “What do you mean? Chowderfest will be over by then.” As if.
While there certainly are thousands of self-appointed creamy soup aficionados who flock to Saratoga and its outskirts to sample every $2 (pre-pandemic it was $1) cup of chowder they can get their hands on between 11am and 4pm, there are thousands more for whom eating actual chowder on Chowderfest is laughable. For them, Miller Lite is the soup of the day, and the kegs don’t stop flowing at 4pm.
