13 North Restaurant Moving to Phila Street, Changing Name
Named after owners Patti and Larry Weaver's granddaughter, Elody will bring fan-favorite 13 North dishes to downtown Saratoga.
Just when you foodies thought Phila Street couldn’t get any better, a pair of local restaurateurs is raising the F&B bar even higher. While Saratoga has had its eyes on the impending openings of Standard Fare and Noah’s Italian, Patti and Larry Weaver of 13 North have been devising a plan to move their down-home food and decadent desserts to downtown Saratoga.
While 13 North, named for its location just off Exit 13 of the Northway, will close up shop after 10 years following this track season, its downtown successor will follow right on its heels: Elody, named after the owners’ granddaughter, will take the spot formerly occupied by Phila Fusion on the corner of Phila and Henry streets this fall.
Longtime fans of 13 North needn’t worry about losing out on their favorite dishes. “Elody is going to be an extension of 13 North, as far as the menu goes,” Patti says. “A lot of our menu is going to stay. We’re known for our steaks, so we’re going to have every cut of steak that we currently have, and we’re getting popular for our lobster dishes.” (One current fave? Lazy Lobster, which comes pre-shelled and drenched in butter.) The chicken stack—chicken layered with mozzarella, spinach, and tomatoes in a vodka cream sauce over pasta—will also be making the jump to the new spot, as will 13 North’s beloved desserts (cheesecake, anyone?). In fact, in addition to a full-service bar, the new spot will also have a dessert bar dedicated to all of Patti’s confections.
While the menu will stay largely the same, Patti says the vibe of the new spot will be “a little more elegant” than the more-rustic 13 North. That being said, she and Larry didn’t have to do all that many modifications to the physical space to get it Elody-ready. Beginning in September or October (State Liquor Authority-willing), Elody will be open Tuesday-Saturday from 4-10pm, and offer takeout in addition to table service.
“We’re close to Saratoga, but we’re just far enough away that people don’t think of us all the time,” Patti says of their current location. “With all the activities with the racing season, I think it’s a smart move to get right in the mix of it all.”
Welcome to the mix, Elody.
